Keith Greetham Appointed Chair of Newly Formed Southwater Group

Now one of the largest venue organisations in the country, Southwater Event Group announced today the appointment of Keith Greetham as Chairman.  Located in Telford and comprising of The International Centre, Holiday Inn, The International Hotel and Grays Hotel, the new appointment signals the start of a multi million pound redevelopment programme in the region.

Working alongside Tom Gray, Group CEO, and other members of the management team, Greetham will be responsible for Group strategy and will represent the event group in the negotiations with Telford & Wrekin Council, Transforming Telford and English Partnerships in the planned joint venture to redevelop Telford Town Centre.

Greetham, who was instrumental in the development of ExCel, will be bringing significant experience to this development for the Southwater Event Group. Looking forward, Greetham commented:

"These are exciting times for the group who are pioneering a new approach in the events industry.  It is the vision of the senior team and their innovative approach that makes this a great project to be part of.  Watch this space.

As part of the wider town centre development the Southwater Event Group intends to triple the capacity at The International Centre in three phases.  During this period a further 300 rooms will be added through the addition of a new hotel to support increasing demand for conferences that the venue is seeing year on year. New serviced apartments, bars and restaurants complete the development project for the Group

These plans are linked directly into the main developments of the town centre in the form of Southwater Square that will cover 120 acres, making it one of the largest development projects in Europe.  Tom Gray, Group CEO commented

"As a venue we are in the enviable position of being able to provide a complete service to all our clients through our ownership and direct management of the hotels, the exhibition halls and conference facilities.  The new development will enable us not only to bring in more business as a venue and a region, but it will also facilitate the social dimension of attending events, completing the visitor experience which is at the heart of everything we do."

New images of the Southwater Event Group development plans have now been released and reflect what is set to be the biggest project for the events industry this year.
