A refurbishment programme worth almost £2 million is to take place at two Telford hotels.

Southwater Event Group, which owns The International Centre, The International Hotel, the Holiday Inn and Grays Hotel, have already started work on the ambitious project.

Chief Executive Tom Gray said the bedrooms at Grays Hotel and The Holiday Inn would be totally refitted, with new fixtures and fittings, furniture, and bathrooms.

“Improvements will also be carried out in public areas of the hotels and the customer toilets, and the upgrades will be completed in phases over the next three years.

“By updating and improving the bedrooms at both Grays Hotel and The Holiday Inn, we will ensure the standards at all three of our hotels are what our customers expect – first class, modern and comfortable.

“The International Hotel was only built in 2004 and so already has modern contemporary facilities.

“The new refurbishment programme will bring the other two hotels up to the same high standard, and we are sure our guests will be impressed with the changes we’re making.”

The upgrades are part of wider development plans from the Southwater Event Group – long term plans include creating a new 1,000 capacity conference suite at The International Centre, a new 200-bed hotel, and new bars and restaurants around The International Centre itself.
