Extra spaces on the doorstep

One of the leading events venues in the Midlands has created even more parking spaces right outside its front door.

The International Centre, Telford, has already unveiled a £10 million expansion to create additional event suites.

And now, as part of its ongoing development, the venue has added an additional 130 parking spaces to its already generous car park.

Tom Gray, chief executive of the Southwater Event Group, which owns The International Centre, said the increase had now taken the total number of spaces on site to 1500.

"All our parking spaces are less than a two-minute walk from the exhibition halls and conference suites, so this means even more delegates, visitors and guests will be able to park right outside the main entrance.

"We're committed to ensuring visitors to our venue have everything they need to make their event an enjoyable and stress-free experience - by parking on the doorstep, their arrival couldn't be any more convenient."

The car park extension is the latest step in an ongoing multi-million pound programme of development at The International Centre.

The new Ludlow Suite was unveiled at the end of last year and is a 1300sq m events space with additional seminar rooms and a dedicated banqueting kitchen to serve the new facilities. It also has an amazing floor to ceiling glass wall.

"The new suite means The International Centre now has over 15,000sq m of event space and can offer greater flexibility and capacity to host all kinds of events from small boardroom meetings right through to large scale conferences and exhibitions," said Tom.

The investment at The International Centre site has gone hand-in-hand with ambitious £250 million redevelopment plans to create a thriving night-time economy at the heart of the town.

"We're working in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council to create a new convention quarter in the town, which will include a selection of new bars, restaurants and hotels right outside our venue.

"These are very exciting times here in Telford and we have a long-term plan of investment to ensure our facilities are the very best around, ready for the extra visitors the new Southwater area of the town will attract."
