Rotary District chooses Telford
District 1070, which is made up of 87 clubs with more than 2700 Rotarians working in their local communities, will bring their event to The International Centre, Telford, in September 2012.
Tom Gray, chief executive of the Southwater Event Group (which owns the venue), said: "We're delighted that District 1070 have chosen our venue for their annual conference.
"Our destination appeals to association and membership events like this as we can offer flexible space for the conference and the exhibition, as well as on-site accommodation.
"We also have a wide range of leisure options available to complement the main event, and that's why more and more organisers are transferring their events to Telford."
The District 1070 Rotary event has previously been held in Southport, and District Governor 2012/13 Chris Chew, said:
"We surveyed our members to find out what was most important to them about our conference and the top three issues were cost, distance to travel, and activity outside the main conference.
"We took all these issues on board when we began the search for a new venue, and Telford ticked all the boxes."
Chris said they were impressed with the affordable hotels on-site and in the town, and the in-house accommodation booking service.
"This service means we are able to make booking hotels so much easier for our delegates by using just one point of contact.
"The venue is also easily accessible from the motorway and is only 2.5 hours from anywhere within our district, which again is a huge plus point for our members.
"Away from the conference, Telford and Shropshire has so much to offer our members too, and we're all greatly looking forward to visiting the area next year."
